At an early age La Vonne and the family moved to Humeston, were she grew up and attended Humeston High School, graduating with the class of 1949. On February 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Max Calvin Casey. Three children were born to this marriage; Sheri, Edward, and John.
La Vonne spent many years in the work force, from waitressing at Guessem's Cafe to her last job as

She was a friend to many, and those who knew her knew that she was independent, funny, loving, stubborn, opinionated, and could swear "better than my Marine Corp drill instructor", according to her grandson Jason.
