Virginia Rose (Cook) Grimes

Virginia Rose (Cook) Grimes, 77, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at her home in Chariton, Iowa.  Virginia was born on March 9, 1943 to Walter and Leona (Clark) Cook in Iowa City, Iowa.  She lived and went to school in Cambria, Iowa. 

On February 15, 1959, she was united in marriage to Larry Keith Grimes.  To this union four children were born, Robert, Gary, Ann and Randy.  They lived most of their life in Corydon, Iowa and moved to Chariton, Iowa seven years ago.  On August 1, 2020, her husband Larry of 62 years had passed away after battling a serious illness for several years.

Virginia worked as a seamstress at Gross Galesburg in Chariton, Iowa for many years prior to joining the Corydon Care Center as a dietary aide and retiring in 2005.

Virginia’s favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles and spending time with her lady friends at Southgate playing cards, bingo, and putting puzzles together. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leona (Clark) Cook, her husband, Larry, her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Cook, Vivian Marie Sams and Jessie Isabel Jaidinger.  She is survived by her sister, Daisy Mae Printy of DeBeque, Colorado, and children, Robert Grimes of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Gary Grimes of Waukee, Iowa, Ann Lund of Corydon, Iowa, Randy Grimes of Raleigh, North Carolina, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
