Verland Leslie Larrington

Verland (Boo) Larrington, age 101, passed away August 31, 2020 at Care Initiatives at Corydon, Iowa.  He was born on May 13, 1919 to Leslie and Beulah (Peterson) Larrington. He graduated in 1935 from Chariton High School.  On February 21, 1943, he married Jessie Chandler from Lucas, Iowa.  They purchased a farm west of Chariton where they raised six children.  Verlene (Dave) Reyes of Ozark, MO, Gloria Shelton, Indianola, Iowa, Trudy (Mike) Stock, of Excelsiar Springs, MO, Karol (Dave) Siemer of Princeton, MO. Jr (Teresa) Larrington of Chariton Iowa, Peggy Larrington, of Indianola Iowa. They had 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren and 4 great-great Grandchildren.

Boo enjoyed riding and training horses. One of his Palomino horses he trained was sold to Roy Rogers to be used as a trigger. Also he trained and sold several barrel horses to girls all over the United States.  He also trained coon dogs and in later years  hunted coons on mules and sold dogs. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, children, family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, mother, 1 brother, 2 sister and 1 great grandchildren  Chelsea.

Funeral Service will be held at Fielding Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2020. Visitation is from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m., Funeral service is from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., burial will be at 11:00a.m. at Chariton Cemetery. Lunch will be at the First Baptist Church following services and burial.
