Susan Cathleen (Jessip) Stephenson

Susan (Sue) Cathleen Stephenson, 67, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, June 24th 2023, at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Susan was born on January 6th,1956 in Chariton, Iowa to Leo and Geneva (Thompson) Jessip.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Leo Jessip.

She is survived by her mother, Geneva Jessip, her sons, Scott (Clair) Stephenson, Ryan (Liz) Stephenson, her siblings, Tom (Sheri) Jessip, Lee Ann (John) Beers, her grandchildren, Dakota (Tyler) Silvers, Morgan, Westad, Kennadi Campbell and Karter Stephenson, her great grandchildren, Aden and Damon Silvers, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Susan was born and raised in Chariton with her siblings, Tom and Lee Ann. Sue attended Indian Hills Community College and received her degree in Medical Record Technology. Her degree took her to many different states for work but she always returned to her hometown of Chariton.

Sue was blessed with two wonderful sons, Scott and Ryan Stephenson. She was a loving mother, and she devoted everything she had to raising her family. She was then blessed with the love and laughter of her grandchildren, Dakota, Morgan, Kennadi and Karter, who adored her, as much as she adored them.

Susan’s life was filled with many passions and hobbies. She loved artwork, music, collecting teddy bears, roller skating, crafting, cross stitch, computer games, watching movies, football, making many friends, and of course, Elvis! Susan was even lucky enough to attend an Elvis concert in her life, a memory she would always treasure.

Susan was also a strong believer in Christ and accepted him into her heart many years ago. She referred to her love and belief in his teachings many times in her life, and she lived her life knowing she would join him one day.

Susan touched countless lives in her time on earth, and she will be greatly missed by many.
