Robert Dean Nielsen was born March 7, 1956 in Chariton, Iowa to Harold and Genevieve (Fleming) Nielsen. He passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the age of 61 years.
Robert was raised and lived with his parents on the family farm near Williamson, Iowa, where he attended Chariton Community Schools through high school. Several years after, high school, Robert began living in various assisted living environments in Pella, Newton, Knoxville, and Chariton. He always maintained employment in various sheltered work environments. Robert was proud of his ability to show up for work and would do his best to perform his work tasks. Though, he faced many challenges in life, Robert always had a polite demeanor and will be remembered for his desire to daily do the best he could with the abilities he was given.
Robert enjoyed music, old western shows, visiting by phone and routine trips to Wal-mart and McDonald’s with his nephew. He also was grateful for time well spent with family and friends during special occasions and holidays.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Genevieve Nielson, his sister, Henrietta DeJong; his two brothers, Carl Nielsen and Dale Nielsen; his nephew, Bryce De Jong; his niece, Rosalie Nielsen and great-nephew, Sean Nielsen.
Those left to mourn his memory, his brother, Harold (Leona) Nielsen; his four nephews and their families, Darrell (Linda) Nielsen, Terry Nielsen, Steven (Yvonne) Nielsen and Barry De Jong.
