Rebecca Rae Strait

Rebecca Rae Strait was born on December 25, 1958, in Corning Iowa to Warren D. Strait and Irene J. (Bressler) Strait. She was the third child out of four.

Her Father was a DNR officer so most of her childhood was living at Red Haw State Park.  She spent many summers swimming at the lake. 

As she preferred, Becky graduated from Chariton High School in 1978.  College was right after, Hawkeye Community for interior design and received her degree. 

In June 1983, Becky married John Shelton Jr.  They had two daughters, Joyce (1984) and Sonya (1986).  They divorced in 1991. In March 1994, Becky married Rick Boots and they welcomed a daughter in August of 1994, Katey in Cedar Rapids.

About 1997 the family moved to Chariton, Rick and Becky parted ways long before she divorced him.  Becky stayed around Chariton for the rest of her time. 

She worked in retail and some companies that allowed her to travel.  Becky really enjoyed that. Her favorite color is purple.  She loved Snoopy and Woodstock, also unicorns.  She enjoyed going to the state fair, country music and dancing.  She would take the grandkids out to the Trading Post to dance.

In the last few years of her life, Becky has been having trouble with her health.

Beck is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Scott and Bryan, grandparents, aunts and uncles.  Along with many other loved ones. 

She leaves behind her three daughters, Joyce Shelton, Sonya Shelton (Jason) and Katey Farnum (Alex).  Seven grandchildren, Zane Attebury, Iviee and Avel McClish, Eric and Scott Farnum, Evie Shelton and Kayden Farnum.  She also leaves behind her sister, Treva (Gary) White, four nieces and a nephew, cousin, and many loved ones, both friends and family and a Special longtime friend Howard Rhodes.
