Ralph L. Pollitt was born September 29, 1935 in Amelia, Ohio to C. Morris Pollitt and Pauline Pim Pollitt. Ralph and his family moved to a farm in Lucas County Iowa in 1939. Ralph graduated from Lucas High School, Lucas Iowa in 1953.
Ralph joined the United States Navy in January 1956. He was assigned to the battleship New Jersey and was very proud of that assignment. He was honorable discharged from the Navy in November 1957.
On November 8, 1956, Ralph was united in marriage to Doris Marker at the Norwood Assembly of God Church. To this union was born on daughter and two sons. They are Peggy Mitchell of Norwalk, Bradley of Sedalia, Missouri and Craig of Russell.
After discharge from the Navy Ralph’s life was spent on the family farm in Lucas County. Including the farm he grew up on. This farm has been in the family for over on hundred years. Ralph loved his life as a farmer and never wanted to retire because working on the farm raising cattle is what he enjoyed most in life.
Ralph is survived by his daughter Peggy (Greg) Mitchell, sons Bradley (Danette) and Craig (Elizabeth). Granddaughters Amanda Mitchell of Des Moines, Whitney and Brianna Pollitt of Sedalia, Missouri, grandsons, Ryan Mitchell of Des Moines, Kevin Shively of Shelbyville, Missouri, Jesse (Kari) Pollitt of Russell and Michael (Lauren) Pollitt of Lucas, great-granddaughters, Isabel and Charlotte Jauregui, Jessalyn, Kassidy and Abbi Pollitt, sister Patricia Evans of Chariton, sister-in-law, Janette Pollitt of Belmond and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other relatives.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, brother Frank and brother-in-law J.B. Evans. Memorials may be directed to the family. On line condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhomes.com.
