Peggy Rash

Peggy Melinda (Clark) Rash, daughter of Kenneth Wayne Clark and Doris Elaine (Wolett) Clark, was born on November 27, 1958, at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. She passed away on June 18, 2026, at her home at Terrace Park Assisted Living in Leon, Iowa.

Peggy grew up just outside of Derby, Iowa, where her early childhood was filled with softball games, 4‑H activities and at the age of 14, she began working at the Derby restaurant. She later graduated from Mormon Trail High School with the Class of 1977.

On July 23, 1977, Peggy was united in marriage to Daryl Hager Rash at the Humeston Methodist Church. Together they built a home outside of Derby, just over the hill from her childhood home, and welcomed two children, Angela Lynn and Andrew Clark. Peggy and Daryl later divorced in 2002.

When her children were young, Peggy provided in‑home daycare, creating a warm and lively environment for many families. She was deeply involved in her children’s activities — serving as a Girl Scout leader, coaching softball and baseball, and spending countless summer hours helping with 4‑H projects. As her children grew older, Peggy returned to school, earning her degree from Des Moines Area Community College and later completed her bachelor’s in accounting from Grand View University. She went on to work in various accounting roles, including SCICAP, Mormon Trail School District, Osceola Foods, DeBruce Grain, and Manly Toys.

Peggy cherished her role as a grandmother. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, music concerts, birthday parties, and any moment she could spend with Maddox, Levi, Hattie, and Clara.

Her passion for antiques, auctions, and bird watching eventually inspired her to open Whiddledottles in Humeston, where she sold antiques and “other not so fancy stuff”. The store brought her joy, purpose, and endless conversations with customers who quickly became friends. Outside of the shop, Peggy loved a good card game with her late mother, Doris, her siblings and their spouses, Aunt Wilma Poole, Aunt Linda Bjorn, Uncle Dick Bjorn, and the many cousins who stopped by for a visit. Peggy was also involved in the Morman Trail Pool Community Play for several years.  She was a member of the Humeston Christian United Methodist Church in Humeston, Iowa.

Peggy moved into Terrace Park Assisted Living in Leon, Iowa in April of 2025.  During her time there she enjoyed various activities with the other residents and had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Doris Clark; her brother, Byron Clark; and her brother‑in‑law, Steven LeMaster.

She is survived by her children, Angela (Jon) Wickware of Ankeny, Iowa, and Andrew (Holly) Rash of Van Meter, Iowa; her grandchildren, Maddox Kistler, Levi Wickware, Hattie Rash, and Clara Rash; her siblings, S. Dianne LeMaster of Radcliff, Kentucky, and Allen (Marjorie) Clark of Trenton, Missouri; her sister in-law Ana Clark of Ankeny, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Peggy will be remembered for her creativity, her humor, her love of family.

Memorial contributions may be made to her family in memory of Peggy which will be used to create a special tribute at Terrace Park Assisted Living in Leon, Iowa.

Services and support for the family is under the direction of Clark Fielding of Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton.
