Orpha Mae Gookin Thompson Genochio passed away on Friday, October 21,2022 in Anniston, Alabama at the age of 94.
Orpha was born August 29,1928 to Guy William and Edythe Luella Britton Gookin. She attended country schools as a child and graduated from Chariton High School in 1947. In the fall of 1947 she married John Thompson and together they had three daughters, Juanita, Judy and Jean. They lived in Chariton where their three daughters were born, later moving to Ottumwa.
After the death of her husband John, She married Fred Genochio. They lived in Ottumwa until he deceased.
She loved music and her church was very important to her. If she were here today, she would urge all of us to follow Jesus.
She was preceded n death by her parents, her husbands, John Thompson and Fred Genochio, sister and husband, Louise and Bill Thrasher and brother-in-law, Larry Radcliff.
She will be remembered by her daughters, Juanita (Charles) Plitt and Judy Tuck of Anniston, AL, Jean (Murrial) Walker of Bethany, OK, her grandchildren Michell (Jason) Henry, Jeff (Dana) Manshaw, Jennifer and John, her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kyle, Jaden, Austin, Kaitlyn, William and Lauren, great-great-granddaughter Kimberly, her sister Geneva Radcliff.
As Orpha has said, “We need to hold on and strive for a New Life to come. Memorials may be made to the Nazarene Church.
