Mitchell "Mitch" Frank Grimes

Mitchell Frank Grimes, 60, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.  Mitch was born on February 7, 1962 in Knoxville, Iowa to Walter Vaughn Grimes and Audrey Yvonne (Byers) Davidson.

Mitch attended school in Chariton, Iowa.  In 1980, he graduated from Chariton High School.  Mitch stayed in Chariton, working at various factories and warehouses.  He was a proud father of two sons, Mason and Matthew Grimes.

Mitch was kind-hearted and generous person, he was always there for any one in need, especially for his family and friends.  He was always in good spirits, fun loving, and he would not let the little things get him down.  His laugh was infectious, he made sure everyone was laughing with him.  Mitch enjoyed rock and roll, like taking walks in nature, loved all sports. He liked to collect anything rare.

Mitch started having health problems, but he did not let that get him down.  He fought hard to stay healthy as long as he could.  Mitch was such a lovable person. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his father, Walt Grimes of Chariton, his son, Mason of Des Moines, his brother, Tony Grimes of Arizona, and sisters, Terry Halferty of Chariton, Joy Amos of Indianola.

Mitch is preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Davidson and his son Matthew Grimes. Memorial may be directed toward the family. Online condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhome.com.
