Mike “Big Mike” Wilson was born on June 2, 1952 in Des Moines, IA to Bill and Wanda Wilson. He attended school in Urbandale, IA and graduated in 1970. He did his apprenticeship at Local 33 Steam and Pipefitters in Des Moines, IA. Then Mike worked at numerous locations as a pipefitter. In 2004 he bought The Fibbin’ Fisherman Bar and retired in 2014. In February of 1976 Mike met Peggy, the love of his life. They were married in August of the same year. Two sons, Michael and Colby, were born to this union. Big Mike loved the outdoors. He looked forward to hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting with his friends and family. Big Mike passed away at home on September 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Wanda Wilson, in-laws John and Betty Torry and sister Diane Gladue . He is survived by his wife Peggy, children Michael (Angie) Wilson of Chariton, Colby (Sonya) Wilson of Oskaloosa, grandchildren Carlie (Taylor) Bennett, Payton Schaeffer, Hunter, Lucy, Chance and Colton Wilson, great grandchildren James, Brodey and Devyn Bennett, sister Tricia (Mark) Reha and brother-in-law Pete Gladue                                                     Fielding Funeral Home is honored to help the Wilson family as they celebrate Mikes death.
