Obituary

Michael DuWayne Feehan was born in Chariton, IA on January 23, 1967 to Donald Olson and Bobby Evans, later to be adopted by Vince Feehan. Mike grew up in Chariton, IA and later Melrose, IA. Mike attended Chariton Community School District and Albia Community School District. During this time, he was involved in FFA and Track. Mike worked a short time for LV James Tiling before his 30 year career at Johnson Machine Works, both located in Chariton, IA. Mike also worked at Camp 365 in Albia, IA and was the owner of Feehan’s Pub in Melrose, IA.

On December 17, 1988 Mike married Mary Helen Walsh of Melrose, IA. To this union came the two joys of his life, Cali Anna and Cami Renae. They have since been blessed with 6 grandchildren, Brooke, Khyler, Jettson, Treyton, Amerlee and Ella.

Mike was a member of the Melrose St. Patrick’s Church, Knight’s of Columbus and was on the Melrose Fire Department since he was 18 years old, serving several years as Fire Chief. Mike also held the position of City Mayor of Melrose for several years during his lifetime of living and raising his family in Melrose. Melrose and its improvements were a huge part of his heart and soul.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman, and very good at it. He shared his love for hunting, fishing, camping and boating with his family and friends. He had a love for nature and the outdoors which he instilled into his daughters. He taught them to hunt and fish at a very young age and raised them to be excellent marksmen (women), like himself. He always said his girls were his “boys”. He taught them everything that he thought they needed to know in life. To many, Mike was known as “MacGyver”, he was blessed with a gift and could fix anything. He was always helping others, putting their needs ahead of his. Mike devoted his life to teaching these talents to his girls and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Cali (JT) Lacey of Chariton, IA and Cami (Richie) Vande Lune of Chariton, IA. Six grandchildren Khyler Stansbery, Brooke, Jettson, and Treyton Lacey and Amerlee and Ella Vande Lune. His parent’s Vince and Carol Feehan of Melrose, IA, brother Paul Feehan of Lucas, IA, sisters Dawn (Darwin) Brown of Indianola, IA, Shanna (Sonny) Schroeder of Albia, IA, Chris Comegys of Carlisle, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his father Donald Olson and mother Bobby Evans, grandparents, Ivan and Heloise Olson, George and Donna Green, and Bob and Mildred Feehan.

Memorials may be direct to the Melrose Fire Department.
