Marjorie Boyce Obituary

Marjorie Irene (Dunbar) Boyce, 83, passed away on January 14, 2026, at The Village in Indianola, Iowa. Marjorie was born on June 25, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Rothmer Oliver and Elvina Rose (Orr) Dunbar. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School, after graduation Marjorie moved to Kansas City, Missouri to work for the airline. This is where she met and married Donald Gumbiner SR. To this union three children were born, Kenneth, Julie and Donald.

She spent most of her life in the Des Moines area (Norwalk) and in Ely, MN. After Marjorie graduated from college as a Registered Nurse, she met and married her “soulmate” Richard Boyce. They spent the rest of their lives together until his passing on April 18, 2017.  Marjorie loved traveling and camping with her “soulmate” Richard especially to their cabin at Ely, MN or at their home in Norwalk and Indianola, Iowa as long as they were together. They loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marjorie and Richard brought two families together to make one big happy family. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading. Richard and Marjorie are together once again, joined hand and hand in Heaven. Both living without pain, and at the table with God.

She is survived by her brothers, Roger (Linda) Dunbar of Redondo Beach, CA, Gerald Dunbar of Fort Dodge, her children, Kenneth Gumbiner of Missouri, Juli Gumbiner of Carmel, CA and Donald Gumbiner of Chaska, MN, her grandchildren, Joshua Gumbiner of Des Moines, IA, Aaron Gumbiner of Iowa, Stephanie Gumbiner of Des Moines, IA, Keaton Kronberg, MPLS, MN, Austin (Shelby) Gumbiner of Chanhassen, MN, Mason (Meg) Gumbiner of Minnetonka, MN and great-grandchild, Elora.
