Marguerite Mary Watkins

Marguerite Mary Watkins was born 1/25/25 in Chariton, Ia. She left this world on 3/8/2020 at Homestead Assisted living in Chariton, Ia with family by her side. She had 95 years of life and enjoyed every minute of it. She struggled to leave her longtime home on S 8th St, but adapted well to Assisted Living. She was an ace at Bingo and never missed a day until her decline.

Marguerite was married to Delbert Watkins on 10/3/46. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Deborah (Urbandale) and Mary Ellen (Urbandale). They lived their entire life in Chariton and were proud to call it their home.

Marguerite was a stay at home mom, but did have a brief career at Watkins Toggery as a sales clerk.

She spent her life as a good friend to many, a devoted Catholic, a good neighbor, but most of all, a good mom.  She was a free spirit. We always had so much fun at family gatherings.  Most recently, she was with us for our Christmas.  Brought gag gifts for the kids, grand-kids, and the rest of the family. She enjoyed laughing when they opened the craziest gifts ever.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Cosgrove (Jim) Urbandale, Mary  Lureman (Glenn ) Urbandale. Sister Irene Shrader, Davenport. Grandkids, Angie Helstedt (Jamie) Bondurant), Kevin Jones  (Kelsey) Des Moines, Mike Glazebrook (McKenzie) Des Moines, Joseph Glazebrook, Des Moines . Great Grand Kids, Alli, Taylor, Lottie, Jonah, Wren and many nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, her brother, Raymond, sister in laws, Barbara, Viola, brother in law, Bud, brother and sister in law, Wayne and Doris,  and her son in law, John.

Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Church or Homestead Assisted Living.
