Lowell “Junior” Gullion, 85, of Chariton passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 at the Chariton Specialty Care.
Jr. was born May 15, 1937 to Lowell and Nona (Day) Gullion. He was the fifth child of seven. Jr. graduated from Chariton High School, Class of 1956. He enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Jr. was married to Donna Pool in 1958. To this union two children were born Michele and Brian. Later in life he met his longtime companion Kay Feehan and gained a son Chris Feehan and wife Kim.
He had various jobs throughout this lifetime, but Jr. was the happiest when he was camping and fishing. He was an avid fisherman and never missed a chance to cast some lines always hoping for that “Big Fish.”
Jr. also enjoyed playing on a pool league “The Old Mill Gang” back in the day and playing cribbage until the wee hours “15 Two 15 four.” He also loved football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching Nascar.
When he could no longer see to watch them Jr. would listen to them on his radio along with his country music.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter Michele (Steve) Fenton of Chariton, his siblings, Dan (Carol) Gullion of Ottumwa, IA, Jacque Diblasi of Council Bluffs, IA, Jerry (Janet) Gullion of Rapid City, SD, granddaughter, Heather (Mike) Kautz of Chariton, IA, grandson, Brian Lowell Gullion of Des Moines, IA, great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendyl Kautz and extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Nona Gullion, son, Brian C Gullion, granddaughter, Kayla E. Gullion, his companion, Kay Feehan, siblings, Joyce Hardman, Joan Shrader, Randy Gullion.
To honor Lowell’s request no services will be held. A private family burial will be held at a later date under the direction of Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa. Condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhomes.com
