Larry Dale Villines, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Chariton Specialty Care Center in Chariton, Iowa. He was born on November 17, 1951, near Orange County, CA to Wilburn Villines and Louella Madge Reed Parker. Larry lived most of his life in Atascadero, California and graduated in 1969 from Bakersfield High School. After graduation, he joined the Airforce and was honorably discharged. 

Larry worked for Atascadero Psychiatric State Hospital as a Licensed Psychiatric Tech for 34 years of service. He was a legend of this facility to work day and night every other day for years. In January 2007, he moved his family to Chariton. In 2007 his mother fell and had a stroke. For the next 6 ½ years they took care of Madge till August of 2013 his mother passed away. Larry’s health went bad; he had a stroke about two years ago and had to go to a nursing home for extra assistance.

He loved spending time with his family. Larry also enjoyed playing video games, being outdoors, fishing and reading.

Larry is survived in death by his wife Deborah Kent Villines of Chariton, his children Teeyana S. Wullenschneider of Independence, KS, Lisa M. Kent of Baldwin City, KS, Beverly E.M. Villines of Charleston, SC, Amanda J. Villines of Columbia, Iowa, Matthew B.D. Villines of Chariton, grandchildren, Elexys K. of KS, Tamaya Wullenschneider of Independence, KS, William Torrison, of Independence, KS, Kaliera Wullenschneider of Independence, KS.

He is preceded in death by his mother Luella Madge Parker, his stepfather Roy Parker, his siblings Donnie Villines, Deanna Villines, father-in-law Veron E. Kent, mother-in-law, Beverly J. Kent, brother-in-law, Benjamin V. Kent.
