Larry Lovett Obituary

Larry Ray Lovett 77, of California, MO passed away December 8, 2019 at SSM St, Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, MO.

He was born September 5, 1942 in Pleasant Hill, IA, the son of Ivan Ray and Marian Valentine Lovett whom preceded him in death.  In 1960, Larry graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, IA.  During his high school years, Larry was a championship wrestler.  He worked for AT&T retiring in 2002 as District Manager of Government Affairs.  Larry was an avid reader and enjoyed Civil War history.  He had a great sense of humor and loved traveling to all unknown destinations.  He loved his family, tools, antiques and all of his many farm pets.  He was a wonderful woodworker and craftsman.  Larry was a member of the California United Methodist Church.  He was married to Connie V. Howard on July 4, 2003 at the California United Methodist Church.

Along with his wife, Larry is survived by two daughters Lysle (Bryan) Elliott, Indianola, IA, and Lisa (Dan) Waller, Urbandale, IA; three step-children, Monica (Gary) Hamilton, Bryan Koetting, Blake (Jackie) Koetting all of California, MO; five grandchildren, Shelby (Richie) Miller, Katie (Zach) Davies, Mandy (Evan) Wells, Vincent Linhart, and R.J. Williams; four step-grandchildren, Ellie and Becca Hamilton, Brant and Kamryn Koetting; five great-grandchildren Katelyn, Dylan and Ryann Wells and Elliott and Ruby Miller; two siblings, Dave (Bonnie) Lovett, West Des Moines, IA and Joyce (Calvin) Dyer of Chariton, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Private family inurnment was held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lucas, IA, by Family and Fielding Funeral Home from Chariton, IA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or the California United Methodist Church.
