Larry K. Grimes

Larry Keith Grimes, 82, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa.  Larry  was born November 2, 1937 to Keith and Margaret (Wilson) Grimes  in the country between Cambria and Corydon Iowa.  He lived in Cambria most of his childhood and went to school at Corydon High School.

On February 15, 1959, he was united in marriage to Virginia Rose Cook in Derby, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Robert, Gary, Ann and Randy.  They lived most of their life in Corydon and moved to Chariton Iowa 7 years ago.

Larry served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1957.  He farmed early in life before joining Shivvers Inc. where he retired in December 1999 with 30 years of service as a welding foreman.

Larry had many interests and hobbies to keep him busy. He loved watching pro football and Nascar racing as well as building and creating things out of wood.   The most important in his life spending time  with his grandchildren.  He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and generosity.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Margaret Wilson, one brother Jerry Grimes, one sister, Margaret Aline Searby.  He is survived by his wife Virginia, his children, Robert Grimes of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Gary Grimes of Waukee, Iowa, Ann Lund  of  Corydon, Iowa, Randy Grimes of Raleigh, North Carolina, siblings, Louise Pence of Altoona, Iowa, James Grimes of Mitchellville, Iowa, John Grimes of Marshalltown, Iowa, Virginia Bettis of Florence, Colorado, Gerald Grimes of Corydon, Iowa, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.  On line condolences may be made to www.fieldingfuneralhomes.com.
