Joseph Robert Stroud

Joseph Robert Stroud, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his home with his wife Carol by his side.  Joe was born on August 28, 1939 in Chariton, Iowa to Delbert and Catherine (Canny) Stroud.

On March 31, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carol (Thomas) Stroud in Chariton, Iowa.  To this union, three children were born, Pam, James (Butch), and Janet.

For twenty-three years, Joe and Carol lived on 75 acres beside Stephens forest with a big pond and wild life in view of their patio door. 

He worked different jobs but the one he liked the best was driving a truck for Pearl Teater and the road grader for Lucas County.  Joe retired in 2001.

Joe enjoyed hunting with the hounds but later in life he and Carol enjoyed trail riding.  They made many out of state trips doing that with friends and also at Stephen’s Forest.  The kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, often come to their house for cookouts. He will be greatly missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Catherine Stroud, brothers Rick and Jimmy Stroud, sisters, Rosemary McKinstrey, Mary Ann Hevlin, Louise Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Lucas, IA, his children, Pam (Rex) Francisco of Humeston, IA, James (Butch) Stroud of Lucas, IA, Janet Adams of Chariton, IA, his sister, Barbara Wignal of Newton, IA, Kathy (Dean) Pellegrino of Chariton, IA, brother Pat (Pam) Stroud of Chariton, IA.  On line condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhomes.com.
