James Demichelis Jr. was born on February 5th 1947 in Iowa City to James Demichelis Sr. and Reva Hogue Demichelis. He passed away on March 13, 2020.
Jim spent his early childhood in the town of Williamson until his family moved to Chariton when he was in junior high and started to attend Chariton High School. Jim was married for thirty years to Jennifer Sue Randall and was a father to Jason, Joshua, Erin, and Tory.
Jim joined the Chariton Police for two years in the late 60’s and was a member of the Cement Masons Union and did construction work for several years.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football and boxing, as well as NASCAR races. During big games he loved to visit friends and family and tell stories with a cup of Casey’s coffee in one hand.
Jim had a passion for volunteering. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Order of the Moose. He also lived in Norwalk with his girlfriend Theresa Anderson, where he spent his time coaching children’s soccer and baseball. Jim enjoyed spending time telling stories with people in the community. Whether they be interesting historic tidbits, or the most incredibly tall of tales, he had a passion for entertaining. Jim left Chariton several times over the years, but always found his way home. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his friends in town ad was proud of his community.
Jim is survived by his children Jason (Amanda) Demichelis, Joshua Demichelis, Erin (J.J.) Bailey, Tory Kittle. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Curtis Demichelis. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Reva Hogue Demichelis and sisters Gwenna Meyer and Hattie Orwig. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton Iowa with Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Visitation was held from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment was held in the Chariton Cemetery following the service. Pallbears included Logan Demichelis, Macy Demichelis, Vitali Kittle, Travis Demichelis, Daniel Hollingsworth and Scott Anderson. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
