James Bert Adams, 84 passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023 at Arboretum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Winnie, TX with wife Bev (Norris) Adams at his side.

Jim was born to James H. and Evenly (Akers) Adams of Decatur City, Iowa, July 24, 1938.  On July 27, 1958, Jim was united in marriage to Bernice McFarland. To this union were born four children, Ed (Laura) Adams of Pleasant Hill, IA, Brenda Adams of Winnie, TX, Diana (Rod) Mumford of Chariton, IA, Steve (Tami) Adams of Chariton, IA.

Jim was joined in union to Bev Norris on October 22, 2019 with this union four step-children, Dustin (Vina) of Chariton, IA, Ashley Norris of Humeston, IA, Rebecca (Jason) Bradshaw of Carlisle, IA, Chris (Melissa) Reed of Savannah, MO.

He was a frozen food buyer for Hy-Vee warehouse in Chariton, IA. After he retired Jim enjoyed growing produce for the farmer’s market. Everyone that knew Jim knew he had the best tomatoes at the farmer’s market.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Bernice, his parents, James and Evelyn Adams, in-laws, Clyde and Laura McFarland.

He is survived by his wife Bev of four years, sister Florence (Jerry) Roth of Katy, TX, brother, Ronald (Margaret) Adams of Stanford, KY, his children, 18 grandkids, 28 great-grandkids, many nieces, nephews and friends

Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A private family service is planned for a later date.
