Irene (Greenlee) Vincent was born October 31, 1923 to Thomas and Viola (Sapp) Greenlee in Humeston, Iowa. She grew up eight miles south of Humeston and went to school in a one room country school house. After graduation, she attended Simpson and Drake University to get her Bachelors in teaching. Irene taught in many places, her first teaching job was in a one room country school. She also taught in Humeston, Des Moines and finally Williamson where she retired in 1988. She was a loving and caring teacher to all the children. When she retired, one of the teachers had the children make blocks for a quilt and they presented it to her on retirement day. It was one of her precious moments of being a teacher. Irene was a long time member of the Church of Nazarene in Chariton, Iowa.
On June 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Verne Vincent at Des Moines, Iowa. In this wonderful marriage came three children, Barbara, Beverlee and Jeff. Her children and family were very important to her.
Every year she would have a huge garden and Irene would can all her produce for her family. She was a devoted mother and always made sure her children were taken care of.
