Evelyn Sanders, 96, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa.  Evelyn was born on March 14, 1925 in Lucas, Iowa to Arthur and Nellie (Rouse) Gwinn. She went to school at the Lucas High School.

Evelyn married Joseph Howard Sanders in Chariton, Iowa, 1944. To this union three boys were born, Jack, Joseph and Charles.  She worked as a school cook at Lucas and S.E. Polk school districts. Evelyn worked from 1953 and retired in 1975.  In their past time, Evelyn loved to dance. On April 4, 1982, Evelyn lost her husband.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nellie Gwinn, her husband, Joseph Howard Sanders, her son, Jack Dean Sanders, her sisters, Ida Skinner, Opal Medaris.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Joseph Sanders from Chariton, Chuck (Lois) Sanders from Apache Junction, Az, brother, Ronald Gwinn from Des Moines, her sister Judy Chapin from Monroe, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held under the direction of Fielding Funeral Home Inc. in Chariton, Iowa. Interment will be held at the Chariton Cemetery. On line condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhomes.com.
