Doyle Keith Hoover, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025 at his home in Chariton, Iowa. He was born on December 26, 1941, to John Davis and Florence Elizabeth (Wohlwend) Hoover in Chariton. Doyle grew up around the Chariton area and went to school in an old country schoolhouse, Cackler School.

On January 21, 1962, Doyle married the love of his life, Janet Nine at her parents’ home in Oakley, Iowa by Pastor Pearl Sams. To this union five children were born, Doyle Keith Jr., Deborah Ann, Dennis Lee, Darin Wade, and Deedra Sue.

He worked at Alfred A Thorp Company, in Des Moines, IA until he semi-retired at age 62. Doyle repaired antique furniture and he also built furniture. Once he had to repair some upright wooden chairs for the governor ‘s mansion which are still there today. He just would take a look at what he needed to fix and carve the furniture with perfection. Anyone that knew Doyle knew he would not retire, he built houses, garages, and continued to work on furniture. Building things was his passion. Doyle had a gift, he would pick up a piece of wood and not have a drawing or know what he wanted to make. He would start carving, it would always be done with perfection and so much detail. Doyle made art out of wood, steel and barb wire whatever he could get his hands on. His hands always had to be busy. Doyle loved old cars, tractors and collecting antiques. He enjoyed gardening, he planted a flower garden for his wife, Janet so that she could have fresh cut flowers for their home. Doyle especially enjoyed spending time with his family, they were his first priority. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Doyle will be truly missed by everyone and they will cherish the memories and his art.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Nine) Hoover of Chariton, his children, Dennis Hoover of Des Moines, Darin (Twyla) Hoover of Knoxville, Deedra (LeRoy) Ruff of Russell and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parent, John and Florence Hoover, his son, Doyle Hoover Jr and daughter, Deborah Hoover.
