Dora Jeanne Hart Ansley (Jeanne), 98, of Downers Grove, IL (formerly of Iowa City, IA and Plainfield, IL) passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Oak Trace Assisted Living in Downers Grove. Jeanne was born on April 12, 1925, in Chariton, IA to parents Neri and Mildred Hart. She received her education at Chariton schools. She married her high school sweetheart, George Ansley, on June 21, 1941. Jeanne and George were devoted to their family, which included five generations at the time of Jeanne's death. They were also devoted to their church. They helped establish and were charter members of five Christian churches in three states. Jeanne was most recently a member of the Iowa City Church of Christ.

Jeanne was an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan. She had a sharp wit and sense of humor. Being able to laugh at yourself was a survival skill in her house. She also strongly believed in the importance and value of education. Homework and grades were never neglected under her watch. After her children were raised, she became the consummate doting grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, George, of 64 years, her parents, a son in law, and a great grandson. She is survived by her three children, Kathy D. Zimmerman (the late Charles Zimmerman) of Two Rivers, WI, Timothy N. Ansley (Margaret) of Iowa City, IA, Debra L. Petersen (Lawrence) of Darien, IL, two sisters, Betty Askren of Dothan, AL and Marjorie Blackman of Johnston, IA, five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Jeanne's life on April 13, 2024, at the River Community Church in Iowa City, IA (10 a.m.). Memorials in Jeanne's honor can be made to Iowa City Church of Christ or First Christian Church in Joliet, IL.
