Dolores Willson Tierney Moore
April 7, 1929- July 20, 2021
Dolores was born in Evanston, Illinois and lived in the Chicago area until 1941, when she moved to a farm Northeast of Russell, with her parents.
Dolores is survived by four daugthers-Carlotta Cooley (Richard), Brenda Constant, Nadine Tierney Wasteney (Raymond), Donna Stoessel (Timothy), and three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ann Shovlain and father Lawrence Alton Willson, and husbands Donald Frances Tierney and Charles William Moore.
Dolores was a graduate of Chariton High school in 1947 and enjoyed attending her class reunions. She had her first job at Flatts Ice Cream Shop in Chariton and worked at the Family Shoe Store. Dolores learned to make custom draperies, and decided to open her own business. She later expanded to a full service furniture retail store in Chariton. She remained a business owner for 35 years.
Other achievements included recognition by then Governor Terry Branstad to honor Iowa’s volunteers. Dolores was an active participant in her church and local community projects.
A mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton, 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in her name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton, or your favorite charity.
