Dawn Marie (Watsabaugh) Simon

We are sad to announce the passing of our dear sister, Dawn Marie Watsabaugh Simon. Dawn went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 26, 2022. Dawn lost a short battle with Covid 19 and died with her sister and brother by her side. She was 62 at the time of her death.

Dawn was born October 14, 1959 to Frank and Beverly Watsabaugh and lived her childhood on the family farm in Lucas County. She graduated from Wayne Community High School in 1978. Music was her passion, especially singing, and was given the opportunity to attend Simpson College to study vocal music. Mom and Dad were so proud. There she received her degree in music. Unfortunately, a career in music was not in the cards for her, but went on to have a very successful career in business administration. Dawn was married for a time, but the marriage ended when they were living in Atlanta Georgia. She subsequently moved back to central Iowa to be closer to her family. She also enjoyed her furry friends Ben and Jerry ( her cats) and were such a great source of joy and entertainment for her. She was broken-hearted when they finally passed. Dawn had such a kind quiet demeanor and carried that beautiful smile her entire life.

When she saw the worst, she always hoped and prayed for the best. Her life as a born again believer in Jesus was ever present and the faith that she held dearly never waivered.

Dawn is preceded in death by her kind and loving Dad and Mom, Frank and Beverly Watsabaugh and is survived by her sister Beth (Jim) Sandy of Corydon, and her brother Jon (Diane) Watsabaugh of Des Moines, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dawn's beautiful spirit will be greatly missed, but our loss is heaven's gain!

11:00 a.m., at the Cambria Baptist Church to

celebrate Dawn’s life. The family would love to

hear stories of how you knew Dawn and the ways she impacted your lives.

Immediately following the service will be a luncheon– all are welcome.
