Constance Sue Churchill, 82, passed peacefully away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Edgewater Senior Living in West Des Moines. Connie was born on November 11, 1940 to Wayne and Maxine (Leighton) Rodgers in Chariton, Iowa. She was the oldest of four children.
In 1957, Connie married the love of her life Gary Churchill. To this union they were blessed with four children, Arthur, Linda, David, Mary. Later the two were divorced. Connie worked as a CNA at the Chariton Hospital until she received a job at the VA hospital in Knoxville, Iowa. Connie enjoyed caring for the veterans, she was very passionate about her job. She worked at the VA until she retired. Connie loved living on the farm and caring for all the animals. She was always a hard worker as she learned that earlier in life and instilled that in her children’s lives.
Connie always kept herself busy with cooking, sewing, doing crafts and decorating, having a garden so she could freeze and canning vegetables, loved growing flowers. But most important was enjoying her time with her family and friends, going camping, boating skiing and riding bikes. She liked sitting around the camp fire with family and friends laughing, telling stories, joking around. Connie loved life, she had a lot of challenges but she was a strong woman and did not let anything get her down.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Maxine Rodgers and her son David Churchill.
Connie is survived by her children, Arthur Churchill of Des Moines, IA, Linda (Steve) Crawford of Granger, IA and Mary Churchill of Des Moines, IA, her grandchildren, Meagan, Heather Churchill, Ryan and Kathryn Crawford, her great-grandchildren Jordon, Lydia Sand, Kenneth, Aryah , Bailynn Churchill, Hazely, Zuri Vannausdle, Abigail, Chloe Crawford, Emmitt Willey, Alaina Heaston, Jameson Neuwerth, her siblings, Gary (Rita) Rodgers of Humeston, IA Calvin (Barb) Rodgers of Humeston, IA, Carolyn (Bill) Musick of Chariton, IA and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Connie and her family would like to thank Edgewater and Wesley Life Hospice for all the loving care she received over the last few years.
