Twyla “Colene” Ambelang was born on December 5, 1929 in Pershing, Iowa to Thomas B. and Eythal (Clowser) Reid. She passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Lucas County Health Center located in Chariton, Iowa at the age of 89 years.

Colene grew up around the Chariton area and attended country schools. She was united in marriage on May 16, 1948 to Lester “Bud” Ambelang. The couple remained living in Chariton, Iowa. Bud worked for the railroad, while Colene took care of their home. Colene enjoyed playing cards, reading, and spending time with family.

Colene was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas B. and Eythal Reid; her husband, Lester “Bud” Ambelang; her brothers, John Edward Reid and Thomas Reid, Jr.; her sisters, Shirley Stratton and Carol “Jane” Miller; and her niece, Cindy Reid.

She is survived by her brother, Dwight (Jolene) Reid of Des Moines, IA; her nieces, Debbie (Steve Davis) Evans of Chariton, IA and Shelley (Robin) Depry of CA; her nephews, Rick (Jennie) Dawson of Indianola, IA and Dean (Jackie Miller) Dawson of Mingo, IA; her Great nieces and nephews, Becky (Brenton) Ohnemus, John (Alisha) Evans, Sheena (Steve) Gorder, Darrah (Greg) Van Wyhe, Shelby Depry, and Chris Depry; and extended family and friends.
