Charles Richard Grove passed away at his home on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born on September 22, 1938 to Robert Roy and Lois Allene (Trimble) Grove. He attended Corydon High School and joined the U.S. Navy.

Charles had a prestigious twenty-year career in the Navy ultimately serving as a Senior Chief Petty Officer earning numerous recognitions and many medals. After retiring from the Navy in 1975 he started his second career as Maintenance Manager for Metro Transit Authority (MTA) in Des Moines, Iowa, overseeing the safety and maintenance of their bus fleet.

 He Is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lois Grove, son Randall Dean Grove, brother Robert Grove, sisters Deloris Curtis, Juanita Chamberlain, and Nancy Askren.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Joyce (Gee) Grove, daughter Debra (Jim) Young, daughter-in-law Susan Grove, grandchildren Shantel (Glennie) Nicholson, Justin (Sara) Grove, Alexis (Gabriel) Roberts, six great-grandchildren, sister Betty (Duane) Stoll, brother Larry (Evelyn) Grove, and many nieces and nephews.

In later years Charles enjoyed RV traveling with his wife, Joyce, visiting family and friends in Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, Iowa, and North Carolina. At home, he served in various roles supporting the Windsor Villas community. He enjoyed country and gospel music. He believed in Jesus Christ, our savior.

He will be missed and remember as a beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

 A memorial service will be held at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa, August 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.  An ice cream social with the family will follow the service.
