Catherine Mildred (Jones) Cook

Catherine Mildred (Jones) Cook, age 90, passed away November 13, 2020 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa.  She was born April 5, 1930 at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth and Mary (Martin) Jones. 

Catherine started school at Army Post School until 1939 when her family moved to the Derby, Iowa. In 1949 her family then moved to Chariton where she went to high school.

In January 7, 1949, She married Charles Cook by Rev. Beals in his Russell home. To this union three children were born Florence, David, and Gene.  Catherine and Charles had been married for 63 years before Charles passed away November 23, 2012.

 After they were married, Catherine and Charles moved to the family farm north of Russell where her and Charles farmed the land. When the retired, they moved to Southgate Apartments in Chariton, Iowa. During their retirement, Charles and Catherine spent time volunteering at the Lucas County Humane Society in Chariton, Iowa for many years.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles. She is survived by her children, Florence (Marshall) Comstock, David (Barb) Cook, Gene (Sabrina) Cook, nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
