Betty Louise Parks

Betty Louise (Jones) Parks was born June 7, 1932 in Osceola, Iowa, she was the oldest daughter to
Mervin William Jones and Lillie Florence (Williams) Jones Soper. She passed away November 29, 2022
at Lamoni Specialty Care in Lamoni, Iowa.
Betty was raising five children, Melvin, Judy, Jimmy, Larry and Diana. In December 18, 1962, she
married Dick Wright and became a step-mother to Ronald and Patricia. To this union a son was born
Ricky. After Dick’s passing she met and married Cecil Parks.
In 1962, Betty moved her family to Derby, Iowa, spent over 45 plus years there. She enjoyed cooking for
her family. Also Betty loved to make quilts, crocheting and sew for her family and friends. She like to go
to music festivals and dance.
Betty is preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Wright and Cecil Parks, her siblings, Wanda (Melvin)
Halterman, Colleen (Don) Brown, Wesley Jones, Daryl (Eleena) Jones, Gary Jones, Linda Kimmerer and
Charles Soper, her children Larry Carter and Ronald Wright, three sons-in-law, Dick, Don, Mike.
She is survived by her children, Melvin Jones of Indianola, IA, Judy Carter of Osceola, IA, Jim (Cona)
Carter, Patty Dothager of Centralia, IA, Diana Thurman of Eagleville, MO, Rick (Linda) Affton, MO. Also
leaving behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
