Beatrice Viola Jones
November 14, 1920 ~ September 20, 2021
Beatrice Viola Jones, née Hall, after one hundred extraordinary years, passed peacefully to her rest, on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Chariton Specialty Care, in her native state of Iowa. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, as well as a much-admired mainstay of the Chariton community. Her wit and wisdom will be missed by family and friends alike.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Malissa Jane Hall (née Bricker) and George McClellan Hall; her first husband, John Robert Jones; their oldest son, Robert Jones; her second husband, John Aalderks; her siblings, Clifford Hall, Gertrude Deming, Cleo Mae Schumann, Thelma Johnson, Cecil Hall, Hobbert Hall, and Georgia Goben.
Beatrice was born on November 14, 1920 in Chariton, Iowa to George McCelland “Mack” and Malissa Jane (Bricker) Hall. No stranger to hard work, Bea grew up on an Iowa farm. In her younger years Bea was very athletic. She liked ice skating, snowmobiling, bowling and cross-country skiing. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try to do. Bea liked playing bingo, crocheting and knitting.
She met John Jones, then married in Russell, Iowa. She continued the farming life with her husband John, through WWII and beyond. To this union two boys were born, Robert and Donald Jones. They continued the farming life with her husband John. They lived in a variety of states due to John’s work. Eventually, John and Bea moved to Cedar Falls. After the children were raised, she went back to school where she earned both her GED and her LPN with a specialty as a cardiac nurse, serving the community of Cedar Falls, where in 1985 John passed away. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, good music, and friendly company.
In 1986, Bea married John Aalderks. John Aalderks and Bea decided that they needed to live by her family so they moved to Southgate in Chariton, Iowa, where they lived for twenty years. In 2018, Bea decided to move into the Chariton Specialty Care. Bea was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, Iowa. She loved the Lord and trusted him throughout her life. She loved being around people, no one was a stranger. Everyone loved her that knew her.
She is survived by her siblings, Charlene “Chick” McKinley, Florence Hall, and Marvin Hall; her son, Donald E. Jones; her grandchildren Brian Jones, Becky Dyck, Brenda Whitford, Steven Jones, Kate Jones, and Katie Rose Mundale-Jones; 15 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.
