Anita Marie Snook, 78, passed peacefully on Friday, May 01, 2020 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Anita was born on April 29, 1942, in Humeston, Iowa to Vernie and Martha (Terril) Greer. She went to school and graduated in May of 1959 from Humeston High School.
On March 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to James Pearl Snook in Bethany, MO. To this union were born three sons, Jeff, Steve and Paul. James and Anita lived on a farm outside of Derby where they raised their family and lived there for 61 years.
Anita love to read, play cards, scrolling through Facebook, crossword puzzles, going to the casino, and visiting on her phone with family and friends. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a cub scout den leader for several years.
Anita never met a stranger and if you were ever at her home, you would never leave hungry because she loved to have company over, always providing lots of food and snacks. She dearly love having grandchildren and great-grandchildren come spend time with her and grandpa on the farm. She loved a good card game of “Hand and Foot”, “Play Nine” or “Up and Down the River” with Garry and Janet, and a game of “Pitch” and “Cribbage” with Annie and Bob. The grandchildren, nieces and nephews always looked forward to playing “Poop on your neighbor” when they would go to her house. Two of her favorite jobs were working at the Derby Restaurant and most recently at the Humeston Sale Barn. Her favorite part of both jobs was the people she got to visit with.
