Allen Lloyd Riggs

Allen Lloyd Riggs, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away March 29, 2021 at the Iowa Veterans’ Home.  He was born September 1, 1946 to Jesse (Bud) and Delores Riggs in Chariton, IA.  He grew up in Oakland, IA, graduating with the class of 1964.  He then served 3 years in the US Navy, based in Corpus Christi, TX.

He worked as a truck driver which took him all over the United States.  He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, working on cars and traveling.

Allen lived in Newton, IA until a 1992 accident, after which he moved to the Iowa Veterans’ Home where he has since lived.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by daughter Mechelle Riggs of  Colorado Springs, CO, grandson Michael Riggs (Chloe), and great-grandchildren Zachary, Skye, and Terra, all of Littleton, CO;  sisters Linda Lantz of LeMars, Kathy Knott (Byron) of Council Bluffs, and Patty Brandes (Doug) of Easton, PA, as well as nieces, nephews, an aunt and cousins.  He is also survived by the many nurses and caregivers at the Iowa Veterans’ Home.  The family would like to thank all those who cared for him these past 29 years.  

Burial will be in the Russell, IA cemetery on Friday, April 2nd at 1:00pm.
