AG Hickman, age 94, passed away on March 28, 2023 at Accura Healthcare of Pleasantville, Iowa. AG was born on November 20, 1928 to Virgil and Genevieve (Wheeler) Hickman. He married Oleta Poore in October 1952. To this union four children were born, Dan, Christine, David and Charles. AG owned the DX gas station located on Main Street in Chariton before selling it and going to work for Hy-Vee as a mechanic in the truck shop. He enjoyed his many years working at Hy-Vee. When AG retired, he and Oleta moved to Apache Junction, Arizona. They looked forward to coming back to Iowa in the summer for visits with family and friends. They also enjoyed going to Decorah, Iowa where they camped and went trout fishing for many years.
After Oleta passed away in 2000, AG met and married Frances Brown. They continued to live in Apache Junction, Arizona during the winter and Nortonville, Kansas in the summer. They shared several happy years together traveling to both Alaska and Hawaii.
When Frances passed away in 2017, AG continued living in Nortonville, Kansas until he was unable to live alone any longer. He moved to Homestead assisted-living in Chariton. He enjoyed his time living there and kept the residents entertained with his sense of humor.
Eventually he needed more support and moved to Accura Healthcare of Pleasantville, where he received loving care until peacefully passing away.
AG was preceded in death by his parents Virgil Hickman and Genevieve Hickman, wife Oleta (Poore) Hickman, son David Hickman, son Charles Hickman, sister Dora Mae Medearis and wife Frances (Brown) Hickman.
