Valeta Jeanette Pugh, 79, of Chariton, Iowa passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Specialty Care Center. Valeta was born on January 20, 1938 to Russell and Karna (Peterson) Hull in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Derby High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Junior Pugh on November 23, 1957 in Russell, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born Diana and Christine.

Valeta and Junior enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri. She enjoyed baking goodies and making candies at Christmas time and sharing them with friends and loved ones, until she could no longer do it. She cleaned homes and businesses for several years. Then working at Hy-Vee for 15 years until she retired in 2003. She also cleaned the Church for many years. She was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church. She accepted Christ as her savior in the early 1960's. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoy ladies Bible Study.

Valeta is preceded in death by her husband Junior, parents Russell and Karna Hull, step-mother LaVeta Hull, parents-in-law Murl and Lucy Pugh, infant great-grandchildren Trey, Riley and Reagan Shoup, step-sister and husband Gay and Irvin Birkenholtz. All of Junior's brothers and sisters and spouses.

Valeta is survived by her children Diana Shoup and Christine (Brian) Grimes, grandchildren Nicole (Daniel) Herbert, Daniel (Fabalia) Shoup, Logan Grimes and Tiffney Grimes. Great grandchildren Karna Hampton (Tyler Gathercoal), Twila "Peetie" Hampton, MacKenzie, Benny, Danny, and Allyssa Shoup, Paige and Sophia Herbert. Great-great-grandson Jordan Waddal, sister-in-law Barbara Cobb and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
