Thomas C. Anderson, 68, passed away March 25, 2017 at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton, Iowa. Born January 25, 1949 to Clifford Roscoe Anderson and Wanda Blackstock Gillham in Estherville, Iowa.

Tom attended school in Southern Missouri prior to the family move to the Chariton area in 1960, he graduated from Chariton High School in 1967. After High School, he joined the Army in 1967 and was later Honorably discharged in 1975, afterwards returning to his home town of Chariton. He later attended William Penn University obtained a bachelor in History and Industrial Arts.

Tom was an avid gardener, loved woodworking, making quilts and wooden items for all his nieces and nephews, a Christmas enthusiast, collector of Fiesta ware, Stanley planes, books and Chinese figurines. He was a military history buff, he also loved family history and genealogy and watching vintage TV shows. He was a member of the International Order of the Oddfellow’s and assisted with the Chariton Valley Players. Tom was dubbed the nickname “Uncle Grouch” by his nieces and nephews. He cherished his family and friends, loving his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, step father Earl Krutsinger, step father Lyle Gillman, brother James D. Anderson, “brother from another mother” Lloyd Mitchell, twin nephews Robert and Richard Allen. Left to cherish his memories are mother Wanda Krutsinger Gillham, sister Teresa Anderson, brother David Krutsinger, sister Debi (Kirby) Baumert of Jamestown, MO., Sandy (Larry) McGee, many nieces and nephews and close friends Tony Irving and family and Mike Bingham and Family.
