Scott Kelly Hager was born on July 28, 1955 to Jim and Jean (Hooper) Hager in Marshalltown, Iowa. He passed from this life on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Legacy Lodge Hospice located in Chariton, Iowa at the age of 61 years.

Scott attended Chariton Community High School and graduated in May 1973. He was the father of Ian Thomas and Micah Rae Hager. In Scott’s spare time, his hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing, gardening, and playing pool with his buddies. His personality could be described as a strong-willed, kind and gentle bearded man. Scott lived most of his life within the Chariton community. He worked for Lucas County in the maintenance of county roads. Scott retired in November of 2015.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Frank and Lillie Hooper, Jack and Sadie Hager. Scott is survived by his parents, Jim and Jean Hager of Lucas, Iowa; his son, Ian (Tori) Hager and granddaughter, Lyllian of Hampstead, North Carolina; his daughter, Micah Hager of Bellington, Washington; his sister, Cindy Butler of Brooklyn Connecticut; his brother, Mark (Sherry) Hager of Lafayette, Louisiana; his nephews, Alex and Zach Hager and niece, Leigha Menefee of Lafayette, Louisiana, and extended family and close friends.
