Sandra DaLene Goltry passed away Jan. 5th, 2019 at the age of 82 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa.
Sandra was born July 28th, 1936 in Lacona, Iowa to Ernest Henry Fogle and Helen Iola (Crawford) Fogle. Her younger years were spent growing up in Lacona, Iowa; Hasting, Nebraska; and Chariton, Iowa.
She attended and graduated from Chariton High School in 1954. She had fond memories of spending time with her friend Mary Jo (Stone) Morse, roller skating and riding the train from Chariton to Lacona to visit her grandparents Bill and Carrie Crawford.
Sandra worked for Marilyn Garten Tax Services, Rathbun Regional Water Association, and at the Lucas County ASCS office. However, her first job at the Chariton City Hall gave her the opportunity to meet a young Air Force Airman who had to pay for a speeding ticket while home on furlough. This eventually led to Sandra and Duane Goltry’s marriage on November 11, 1956. The couple lived on the Goltry Century Farm east of Russell, Iowa where two daughters, Linda DaLene and Lisa Renee blessed their home. Poor health struck Sandra at the early age of 50 with two strokes followed by diabetes. Sandra’s hobbies included cooking, canning, camping, crafting, and recipe collecting.
She is survived by her daughters Linda (Dave) Secor of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Lisa (Curtiss) Koenig of Sloan, Iowa; granddaughter Jessica (Brandon) Meyer of Sloan, Iowa; and step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nephew, niece and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane Goltry; her sister and husband, Patricia and Keith Lindeman; sister-in-law and husband, Jean and Jim Cooper; and nephew, Jim Cooper.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sandra’s family.
