Ruth Margaret (Hoch) Amos April 20, 1936 – August 11,2019 Ruth was the 4th child of Norbert and Josephine (Metz) Hoch, born in a farm house between Locona and Bauer. Ruth completed the 8th grade at the Bauer Catholic School in Rural Iowa. She loved to tell stories of the nuns of the school and her brothers as they walk to school. At the age of 15 she would hire out to help out families after the birth of a child or just to help out where needed. Meeting the love of her life Fred Thiel Amos on the Chariton Town Square at a dance. Fred would tell how she was the prettiest girl there wearing a yellow dress. Fred and Ruth were married December 31, 1955 at Bauer Catholic Church. They were married 62 ½ years. To this union 5 children were born. Joseph (Joe), Bryant, Annetta (Ann), Bruce, and Thomas (Tom). Ruth hired out as a young lady, then after getting married and her children were born, she was a stay at home mom. She was a great cook and baked the best chocolate chip cookies. After the kids were in school she worked at the Chariton Manor, Lucas Products, Hospital Kitchen Aid, then retired to raise her birds, finches, cockatiels parrots, and to collect stuffed bear. She loved to do needle point, embroider, crochet word searches and softball. Till her eye sight failed. She loved to whistle and having her family come visit or call. She leaves to morn her passing her children Joe, Bryant (Chris), Ann Kline, Bruce (Tina), and Tom. 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, siblings Mary Dittmer, Andy, Denny, Ron, and Ed Hoch. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be reunited with her parents, husband Fred who past June 26, 2019, grandson Luke Kline, siblings Irma Schaefer, Joseph Hoch, Lee Hoch, and Glen Hoch. Ruth and Fred will be at rest in Bauer IA. They like to say “ they started their life together in Bauer and will finish their life there too.
