Welcome to the memorial page for

Richard Lee Howie

August 20, 1955 ~ December 21, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Richard Lee Howie, 62 passed away December 21, 2017.  Richard was born in Iowa City on August 20, 1955 to Joseph & Olive (Lord) Howie.  He was the fifth Child born of ten.  Richard was a hardworking man all his life.

Dick was a United States Navy Hero saving four lives at sea and making newspapers because of it, two newspapers in the United States and two newspapers overseas.  After an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he worked with friends on their farms, was a proud member of the Iron Workers Union, had his own garbage pick-up service, and volunteered on the Melrose Fire Department.

Dick enjoyed reading, different sorts of craft work, classic rock music, and older western movies.  But more than anything he enjoyed and cherished family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Olive Howie, his brother Bob Howie, his daughter Erin Roush, his son Jason Howie and many more family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Jamee Jo Howie, his son James McCormick, brothers Jim Howie, John Howie, Larry Howie, Bill Howie, Sisters Donna Brown, Dorothy Howie, Mary Pepmeyer, Sharon Howie, his grandchildren Mikah Laskowski, Jimmy McCormick and Cassie McCormick and Matthew Roush and Andrew Roush. Rest in Peace and fly high, Richard Lee Howie
