Mary L. Mitchell

Mary Lee Mitchell was born to Hildur Davison on January 3rd, 1931 in Chariton, IA. She passed away on June 29th, 2019 in Des Moines, IA. 

Mary went to school and graduated from Chariton High. She worked at First Iowa State Bank in Albia, IA for 30 years as a senior teller.

She was united in married to Joe Mitchell on June 3rd, 1953 in Long Beach Ca. To this union, two children were born, Mark Mitchell and Lynn Popson. 

 Mary is a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Albia, IA. 

 Mary enjoyed having her family around her and loved to cook and bake for them.  She lived in Albia, IA  most of her life and later relocated to Fountain Hills AZ for retirement.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Joe Mitchell, mother Hildur Davison and sister Jean Fry. 

Mary is survived and remembered by her son Mark (Carol) Mitchell (West Des Moines), daughter Lynn Popson (West Des Moines), also grandchildren; Kristopher (Sarah) Popson (Albia),  Joshua (Jessica) Mitchell (Waukee), Cassie (Jason) Butler(West Des Moines), Megan (Matt) Darland (West Des Moines).

She was also blessed with great grandchildren; Sophia Popson (Albia), Blake and Jaxson Butler (West Des Moines), Lexi and Sutton Darland (West Des Moines).  She will also be missed by all her friends and family members.

Services for Mary L. Mitchell will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019 at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton Iowa.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Fielding Funeral Home.  Interment will be held in the Chariton Cemetery,.  Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Albia, IA.
