Guy Brock Obituary

Guy “Steve” Brock, Jr., 61, of Packwood, died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Steve was born July 6, 1957 in Davenport, Iowa to Guy Stephen, Sr. and May Rose (Voelkers) Brock. On Aug. 2, 1980, he married the love of his life, Linda Marshall, in Bettendorf.

Steve attended Pleasant Valley High School. He worked as a branch manager for Iowa Bearing Company in Davenport and later managed the store in Ft. Madison. He also worked as a branch manager for Precision Industries and as a draftsman at DuPont in Ft. Madison. He then became an independent insurance adjuster and helped individuals all over the country whose homes or cars were damaged in storms.

Steve loved boating. On hot summer days, he spent countless hours putzing around Lake Red Rock and the Mississippi River in his blue and white Sea Ray. He enjoyed camping and could be found warming his toes in front of a fire on chilly fall nights. He was a huge race fan, and attended the Indianapolis 500 yearly with his son and good friends. He was also a devoted Hawkeye fan. He liked to tinker with machinery on his property, work in the garden and in his shed. Above all, he loved to laugh and have a good time.

Steve loved his family. His grandchildren, Alisia, Alijah, Aliyas, Lydia and Kyle held a special place in his heart, and he spent many hours jumping in and out of the lake with them .

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda, son, Guy Stephen III (Melissa) of Pella and daughter Alanna of Burlington. He is also survived by five grandchildren. Siblings include Peggy (Harry) Purvis of Culbertson, Mont., Pam (Dave) Biskupiak of Riverside, Calif., Connie (Doug) Schultz of Bettendorf, and Michelle Vieger of Ankeny. In-laws include Lonnie Marshall of Gibsonia, Pa. and Susan (Chuck) Brockett of Burlington. He is survived by loving nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Brock Vargas, brothers-in-law Jerry Vieger and Adam Marshall III, and father-in-law Adam Marshall, Jr.

A family graveside service and a celebration of life memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brock Family Scholarship Fund.
