Glenn D. Kent

Glenn Donald Kent was born on July 16, 1926 to Oscar and Mary (Cochran) Kent in Lucas, Iowa. He passed away at the Legacy Lodge Hospice on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

Glenn grew up on his family farm in Lucas, Iowa. He attended the Lucas Community School and graduated from Lucas High School in 1945.  On November 21, 1954, Glenn was united in marriage to Lucy Keller in Princeton, Missouri. With this union, five children were raised: Denny, Martha, Don, Karen, and Gary.

Glenn farmed most all of his life and never really retired as farming was his passion. In addition to farming, he worked for the Solar Airplane Factory, owned a gas station and worked for his brother. Glenn loved doing custom work and hauling to the surrounding sale barns. His family described him as a great family provider who loved to have fun with his ornery personality.

In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed playing softball with the local teams such as Harry’s Boy’s and the Butt Heads. He also liked to watch westerns, play ping pong and visiting with others as no one was ever a stranger. Glenn absolutely loved spending time with his family and being with his grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Kent; his beloved wife, Lucy Kent; his son, Denny; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Oliver and Valoris Kent, Roy and Glyda Kent, and Harry and Roberta Kent.

He is survived by his children, Martha (Rick) Wyatt of Des Moines, Iowa, Don (Ruby) Kent of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Karen (Doug) Hamilton of Indianola, Iowa, Gary (Pam) Kent of Woodburn, Iowa, and daughter-in-law, Cora Kent of Chariton, Iowa; his brother, Keith (Shirley) Kent of Lucas, Iowa; 13 grandkids, 26 great-grandkids, and 5 great-great- grandkids.
