Oldest son of Roy and Engeline (Raveling) Amos was born in Valley City N.D. Barnes County.  Fred went to school to the 8th grade at the Oxford County School in Washington County Iowa.  Then he went to the school of hard knocks.  At a young age his Aunt Dollie Gullion gave him his first horse and it began, his love of horses grew.  Fred Met the love of his life on the Chariton square.  She had on a yellow dress it was love at first sight with Ruth Margaret Hoch.  They were married December 31, 1955 in Bauer Iowa to this union 5 children were born.  Joseph (Joe), Bryant, Annetta (Ann), Bruce and Thomas (Tom).  Fred brought his kids first Shelton pony home in the back of a car.  He was an avid cribbage player taught many.  Fred was a sheep shearer.  He was taught by Arch Marshel.  Fred then taught many other how to shear and some became champions in the field of shearing.  He had many other jobs included construction, dairy worker, Hy-Vee Regal custodian, hospital custodian, hired hand, Tuttle farms, farmed with horses, was drafted to the army in 1956.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 63 in half years.  Ruth , his children Joe, Bryant (Chris), Ann, Bruce (Tina) and Tom his 12 grandchildren, 13 grandchildren, his siblings Jim, Dollie McGee, Cliff, John, and Rosie Gee and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is proceeded in death by his parents Roy and Engeline and grandson Luke Kline.

Services for Fred T. Amos will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton Iowa.  Visitation will be at 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Fielding Funeral Home.  Interment will be held in the Bauer Cemetery, East of Lacona Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to the Family
