Donald Joseph Mullen, 86, passed away May 13, 2017 at the Circle of Life Legacy Lodge in Chariton, Iowa. Don was born May 31, 1930 in Chariton, Iowa to Thomas William Mullen and Mary Isabelle (Goben) Mullen.

Don grew up in Chariton and graduated in 1949 from Chariton High School. Don married Minnie Lee Reeves on August 18,1951 in Kirksville, Missouri.

In 1951 Don was inducted into the Army serving in the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon returning home he continued his working career with Hy-Vee for a total of 38 years and 8 months, retiring in 1988.

Don enjoyed family and friends, as well as working on his acreage, going to Mass, playing cards, taking Minnie dancing and giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren rides on his 4-wheeler.

Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Carmen Darrah, sister Bernadette Foster, brother Michael Mullen and brother Thomas Patrick Mullen. Left to cherish his memories are wife Minnie, daughter Sheri (Craig) Miner of Smyrna, TN., Bruce (Brenda) Mullen of Chariton, Mark (Tina Chenet) Mullen of Pershing, Iowa. Grandchildren Stacey (Alex) Rasmussen, Shelley Mullen, Ashli Anderson, Sarah (Paul) Dory, Holly (Keith) Berryhill, William (Kim) Miner, Eric Smith, Conner Altenhofen, Sarah Chenet and Nicole Chenet. As well as 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
