Carroll "Barney" D. Chamberlain

August 19, 1945 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Carroll Dwight “Barney” Chamberlain, 72, passed away December 2, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans home in Marshalltown, Iowa surrounded by family after suffering a stroke. He was born August 19, 1945 to John William Chamberlain and Angelina Gaylee (Bizjak) Chamberlain in Williamson, Iowa.

Carroll graduated from Chariton High School in 1963. He joined the Army in 1965 and was discharged in 1968, spending the majority of his enlistment in Germany.  He later joined the Air Force in 1971, which included serving as a recruiter in the mid 70’s in Iowa City until his discharge in 1978. He then enlisted in the Air National Guard and retired from the military in 1990 as a master sergeant. He was very proud to be a military veteran. After that time Carroll was an over the road truck driver for several companies, retiring from his working career in 2007.

Carroll married Marydee Musick on February 7, 1970. To this union were born, Jay and Jenifer. They made their home in North Liberty, Iowa for the last 35 years.  He loved classic cars, listening to his “oldies tunes”, hanging out in the garage with family and friends having a “cold one”. Riding his motorcycle in the earlier years with his brother and friends was a passion as well.  He was a member of the Good Guys Car Club, the Air Force Retiree Association and the American Legion.

Carroll never met a stranger and was always ready to “converse” with anyone as though they were a longtime friend. He spent his last years trying to put a smile on anyone’s face, especially the residents in the facilities that were taking care of Marydee.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard “Rev” Chamberlain and Robert “Bing” Chamberlain, nephews Brian Chamberlain, John Chamberlain, Bobby Clark, sister-in-law Juanita Chamberlain, mother-in-law Anne Marie Musick and father-in-law Andrew “Teke” Musick and his buddy, Ol’ Buster, the basset hound.

Left to cherish his memories are wife Marydee of Marshalltown, son Jay Chamberlain of North Liberty, Iowa, daughter Jenifer Chamberlain of Seattle, Washington, brother Gary and J.R Chamberlain of Newton, Iowa, sister Barbara Pyle of Williamson, Iowa, brother-in-law Cork Musick of Chariton, sister-in-law Diane Musick of Chariton, nieces Brenda Kilgore of Pella, Iowa, Teresa Voss of Dexter, Iowa, Felicia Miller of Sahuarita, Arizona, Ashley Stream of Indianola, Iowa, Cindy Clark of Ames, Terry Clark of Monroe, Iowa, nephews Denny Chiri of Williamson, Iowa, Ernie Pyle of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Gary Chamberlain of Des Moines, Iowa, Steve Chamberlain of Chariton, Iowa and Pat Clark of Des Moines, Iowa.
