Beverly J. Watsabaugh

Beverly Jean was born on October 20, 1927 to William Andrew and Marie Mae (Warbinton) Swainey on the family farm in Lucas County. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the age of 90 years. She was a member of Eden Baptist Church and later a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Chariton, Iowa.

Beverly grew up on the Swainey family farm and attended Hazel Dell Country School and graduated from Cambria High School with the class of 1945. On March 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frank Harold Watsabaugh and to this union three children were born; Beth, Jon, and Dawn. She lived on the family farm with Frank as homemaker and helpmate until his passing in 1979, then moved to Charition and she worked at the Lucas County Hospital and Care Center until retirement.

Beverly loved to crochet in her quiet time and she produced literally hundreds of pieces, ranging from small doilies to large table coverings. She put much love into these beautifully crafted and detailed pieces of art. Many of her masterpieces were given as gifts and several remain in the family. Beverly had the true heart of a servant as she would much rather do the work than to be in command. She was a faithful  dedicated wife and Mother, always seeking to provide the needs of her family before her own.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Swainey; husband, Frank Watsabaugh; brother, Howard Swainey; and nephew, David Swainey.

She is survived by her children, Beth (Jim) Sandy of Corydon, Iowa, Jon (Diane) Watsabaugh of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dawn Simon of West Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

 HCI Hospice Care Center.
