Betty Jean (Burk) Woollums, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at her home in Chariton, Iowa.
Betty was born on March 6, 1944, at her home in Bussey, Iowa to Harold and Maxine Louise (Collins) Burk.
She married Freddie William Woollums in Albia and into this union two children, Gale and Juanita were born.
Betty attended and graduated High School in 1962 at Lovillia, Iowa. She had worked varies jobs but Chamberlain manufacturing and Pella Corp. was her primary long term employers.
She enjoyed cookie making, gardening, being outdoors, sewing and shopping with her daughter Juanita. Her greatest joy was the great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Maxine Burk, her beloved soul mate Freddie William “Bill” Woollums, her son “Gale” William Woolums, siblings, Berta McVey, Pattie Ford, Harold, Walter and George Burk.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita (Terry) Durham, grandchildren Samantha Patterson of Centerville, Kerry Woollums of Chariton, Ashley (Joe) Deaton of Des Moines, Robert Woollums of Mount Pleasant, Kyla Woolums of Knoxville, David Durham, Josh Durham, Rebecca Durham, Taylor Durham, Kollin Durham all from Chariton, 6 great-grandchildren that frequently visited her home, Joseph Dhabolt, Emmitt Dhabolt, and Jason Dhabolt of Chariton, Nathan Woollums, Drake Woollums and Skyler Woollums of Chariton, Ashlynn Woollums, great-granddaughter just introduced her to her great-great-grandson, Hayden Nine of Chariton. Betty was one of 13 Children and surviving siblings are Mary Ann Bridgeman of Newton, Larry Burk, Marilyn Isley and Mark Burk of Oskaloosa, Marjorie Bakalar of Ottumwa, Jack Burk of Council Bluffs, Jim Burk of Troy, Missouri. Betty will be greatly missed.
